Tim Franz - President
Dr. Franz is an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist at St. John Fisher College. He is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology and was recently the Program Director and Chair of the Organizational Learning and Human Resource Development Department. In addition to his academic work, he also works as an organizational consultant through his independent consulting organization, Franz Consulting.download free movies
His topical areas of expertise include individual and small team decision making, improving team performance, and using teams to drive organizational change. He is an experienced applied researcher, specializing in conducting focus groups and individual interviews, designing custom surveys, analyzing employee and workplace data, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
Prior to working full time as a college professor, Dr. Franz worked as a Survey Consultant for the Wyatt Company in Fort Lee, NJ (now Watson-Wyatt, Paramus, NJ). He also worked as a Compensation Consultant for Buck Consultants in Stamford, CT and Chicago, IL. In these roles, he designed and conducted custom compensation surveys and salary administration projects for clients in the Northeast and Midwest. In addition, he has designed selection tests, employee development instruments, and custom organizational surveys as a contract consultant for Custom Solutions, A London House Consulting Group in Rosemont, IL (now NCS/London House Workforce Development Group).
Dr. Franz is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the American Psychological Society, and the American Society for Training and Development. His scientific research has been published in premier journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, the Journal of Applied Psychology, and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. He received his Doctorate in Social/Organizational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his Master's degree in Psychology from the University at Buffalo.
Paul Mastrangelo - Secretary
Paul M. Mastrangelo, Ph.D. specializes in the transformation of employee data into insightful pathways to change. He has over 15 years of experience in psychological assessment, organization development, and adult education. Paul works as a Senior Consultant and Director of New Service Development at CLC Genesee (a division of the Corporate Executive Board) where he has facilitated survey driven change efforts for companies such as Apple, Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard, Johnson & Johnson, Lyondell, Raytheon, and Polaroid. Paul co-authored the 2008 book Employee Surveys in Management: Theories, Tools, and Practical Applications, has over 25 original publications, and is a regular presenter at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology’s annual conference. Paul received his PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Ohio University in 1993 and his BA in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 1989, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
Laurel McNall - Program Chair
Laurel A. McNall, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at The College at Brockport State University of New York where she teaches Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Social Psychology, and Motivation. Her research interests include employee attitudes (especially organizational justice), work-family enrichment, and employee reactions to technology in the workplace. Dr. McNall was formerly employed as a Consultant at The Group for Organizational Effectiveness in Albany, NY. She earned a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York in 2005, where she received the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award for her work on electronic performance monitoring. She also holds a B.A. in psychology, magna cum laude, from Canisius College.
Jeff Stanton - Webmaster
Jeffrey M. Stanton, Ph.D. (University of Connecticut, 1997) is Associate Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies in the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University. Dr. Stanton’s research focuses organizational behavior and technology, with his most recent projects examining how behavior affects information security and privacy in organizations. He is the author with Dr. Kathryn Stam of the book, The Visible Employee: Using Workplace Monitoring and Surveillance to Protect Information Assets – Without Compromising Employee Privacy or Trust (2006, Information Today, ISBN: 0910965749).
Stanton has published many scholarly articles in peer-reviewed behavioral science journals, such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Human Performance. His articles also appear in Computers and Security, Communications of the ACM, Computers in Human Behavior, the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, Information Technology and People, the Journal of Information Systems Education, the Journal of Digital Information, Surveillance and Society as well as Behaviour & Information Technology. He also has published several book chapters on privacy, research methods, and program evaluation. Dr. Stanton’s methodological expertise is in psychometrics with published works on the measurement of job satisfaction and job stress, as well as research on creating abridged versions of scales and conducting survey research on the Internet; he is on the editorial board of Organizational Research Methods, the premier methodological journal in the field of management. Dr. Stanton is also an associate editor at the journal Human Resource Management. Dr. Stanton's research has been supported through 15 grants and supplements including the National Science Foundation’s CAREER award.
Dr. Stanton’s background also includes more than a decade of experience in business – both in established firms and start-up companies. In 1995, Stanton worked as a human resources analyst for Applied Psychological Techniques, a human resource consulting firm based in Darien, Connecticut. His projects at this firm included the development, implementation, and assessment of a performance appraisal system, development of a selection battery for customer service representatives, and the creation of a job classification and work standards system for over 350 positions in the public utilities industry. Dr. Stanton has also worked for HRStrategies, Inc. (now Aon Consulting) as a human resources consultant, the Connecticut Department of Mental Health as a statistical consultant, and for Inpho Inc.
